11 May, 2022 – INCEIF University today held a Raya Open House for about 300 people comprising students, alumni, board members and external guests from among the university’s collaborating partners, donors and supporters. Everyone, including INCEIF Chairman Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar and immediate past Chancellor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, was welcomed on campus by INCEIF staff, led by President & CEO Prof Dato’ Dr Azmi Omar.
The guests also included 35 children from the Somalia Refugee Centre in Kuala Lumpur who had the opportunity to learn the basic of Islamic finance during a knowledge sharing session conducted by ISRA Research Management Centre Senior Research Fellow Dr Noor Suhaida Kasri.
Another group of special guests were the indigenous Temuan families from a small Temuan community in Hulu Langat, Selangor. The community caught INCEIF’s attention at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 due to their dire circumstance, and the manageable size of its population enabled the university to take on this project for a longer period. INCEIF has donated daily essentials as well as funds to upgrade the houses of six households wth plans to set up solar energy panels, and introduce a literacy programme and sustainable activities such as urban farming.
The university’s social responsibility projects are part INCEIF’s goal to be an organisation that promotes knowledge with conscience. As a proponent of equality and inclusion for all as propagated by Islamic finance, the initiatives planned for the project enabled us to practice what we believe in.
