Kuala Lumpur, 15 Dec 2020: INCEIF is pleased to welcome Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar and Bank Negara Malaysia Assistant Governor Adnan Zaylani Mohamad Zahid to its Board effective 15 December 2020.15 Dec 2020.
Tan Sri Azman has had an illustrious career in both public service bodies and the corporate world, the most recent of which was as the former Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad (June 2004 to July 2018), the strategic investment fund of the Government of Malaysia.
Tan Sri Azman is currently the Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Centre of Development Studies, University of Cambridge; a Bye-Fellow of Darwin College, University of Cambridge; and an Adjunct Professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He also currently sits as a member of the Global Future Council on Investing of the World Economic Forum, a member of the Steering Committee of the Global Ethical Finance Forum and on the Finance and Investment Committee of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies. In early 2020, he co-founded Fitrah Capital Associates, a financial and strategy advisory firm incorporated in the United Arab Emirates.
Tan Sri Azman holds a M. Phil in Development Studies from Darwin College, Cambridge University, as a Chevening scholar, and a Diploma in Islamic Studies from International Islamic University Malaysia. He is also a CFA Charter Holder and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA). Among the professional accolades received over a 37-year career were Chairman of the Year in Malaysia (by MSWG-ASEAN Corporate Governance in 2017), Value Creator for Outstanding CEO of Malaysia (by The Edge in 2016), Most Outstanding Individual for contributions to Islamic Finance (by KLIFF in 2011) and the Special Humanitarian Award by MERCY Malaysia (2019).
Mr Adnan Zaylani is currently chairman of INCEIF’s Executive Committee, and has been a member since 8 October 2018. As Assistant Governor, he is responsible for Financial Development and Innovation, Islamic Banking and Takaful, Insurance Development, Development Finance and Inclusion, and Legal. Trained in Economics with over 20 years of experience in financial markets, he has contributed to various policy and development initiatives. He holds a Master of Public Policy from Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford as well as MSc in Global Market Economics and BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
INCEIF Board of Directors currently comprised Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Datuk Nor Shamsiah Mohd Yunus (Chairman), and the board members are Bank Negara Malaysia Deputy Governor Datuk Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, Dato Dr Nik Ramlah Mahmood and OCBC Al-Amin CEO Syed Abdul Aziz Syed Kechik.
