Kuala Lumpur, 23 Dec 2020 – INCEIF looks forward to explore the possibilities of collaborating with Iranian universities and research institutions on issues of mutual interest.
INCEIF President & CEO Prof Dato’ Dr Azmi Omar today welcomed Prof Dr Abdoulhossein Fereidoon, Scientific Counsellor and Director of Iranian Students, and Mrs Mona Ebad, The Assistant of Scientific Counsellor and Director of Iranian Students at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Malaysia, on campus. Joining Dato’ Azmi were Deputy President Academics Prof Mansor H Ibrahim, Director of Research Management Centre Assoc Prof Dr Baharom Abdul Hamid and Associate Dean & Director of Executive and e-Learning Assist Prof Dr Ziyaad Mahomed. In addition to updating the respective country’s Islamic finance industry and education landscape, both parties discussed areas of possible collaboration between INCEIF and Iranian universities and research institutions particularly under the Islamic finance scope.
Over the years, INCEIF has continued to build relationship with the Islamic finance proponents in Iran, a country which converted its entire banking system to be interest free in the 80s. In 2008, INCEIF conducted a series of short courses on banking management for members of the Iran Banking Institute, in Kuala Lumpur. INCEIF faculty members and top management have continued to share their thoughts and experience at industry and academic conferences organised by Iranian institutions, the most recent was the First International Congress on Islamic Economics organised by Tehran’s Imam Sadiq University on 21-22 Dec.
