INCEIF Exploring Possible Collaboration With MoF To Promote IF

Kuala Lumpur, 19 June 2019 – INCEIF looks forward to explore possible collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, in the university’s effort to further develop and promote Islamic finance locally and globally.

The top management of INCEIF, led by INCEIF President & CEO Prof Dato’ Dr Azmi Omar, today met with Deputy Finance Minister Dato’ Ir. Amiruddin Hamzah at the Ministry to discuss collaboration possibilities between the university and MoF. Among the areas of focus are the development and promotion of sustainable development goals/ value based intermediation, social finance and halal industry.

Dato’ Amiruddin will be the keynote speaker at Islamic Finance InnoFest 2019 on 1 August 2019 where he will launch INCEIF’s industry research report titled “Harnessing Value-based Intermediation (VBI): The Role of Development Financial Institutions (DFIs)”.  The report provides in-depth insights and a comprehensive overview of sustainable and social impact financing. It also contains suggestions on key benchmarking and strategic recommendations for DFIs specifically, and other financial institutions in general.

IF INNOFEST 2019 is organised by INCEIF and supported by MoF and Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment & Climate Change in conjunction with National Science Week 2019. It is held in partnership with Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre, Malaysian Takaful Association and I-Fikr.

In its second year following the inaugural IF INNOFEST in 2016, the event seeks to create a platform that brings together industry, regulatory bodies and universities to develop and implement breakthrough ideas and innovative solutions in Islamic finance. Such networking between academia, industry players and regulators will give the opportunity for participants transform research into implementable outcomes and forge continuous university- industry synergy.
