INCEIF Gets A Step Closer to AACSB Accreditation

Kuala Lumpur, 17 May 2018 – INCEIF is getting a step closer to getting the globally recognised accreditation, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) which is the most renowned accreditation association of business schools.

Following a two-day AACSB pre-accreditation visit recently by the Peer Review Team Chair, Professor Dr Thomas Begley said: “INCEIF has developed a good system that characterised most good business schools with a specific focus in a specialised area, Islamic Finance. It certainly has come a long way in a short time.”

In its 12th year of operation, INCEIF is the only Islamic Finance focussed university to be considered for the AACSB accreditation thus far. Current AACSB accredited business schools include Harvard Business School, The Wharton School and London Business School.

“In the matter of intellectual contribution, I see that a broad range of INCEIF faculty members are actively involved in industry research and demonstrated good engagement with the industry on issues affecting or of concern to them. This shows that the university stays current on matters concerning Islamic finance,” added Prof Begley who is Dean of the Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, US.

Prof Begley, who had a session with a small group of INCEIF students, said he found that the students were positive of their experience at INCEIF. “Some of them mentioned that they were excited about the fact that they were being taught in classes by professors and lecturers whose books on Islamic Finance, economics, capital markets etc. have been their reference materials all this while.”

The full members of Peer Review Team, headed by Prof Begley, are scheduled to visit INCEIF for the final review this October before making the recommendation on INCEIF’s accreditation.
