The webinar, held on campus, was organised in collaboration with the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO) Singapore Chapter. The talk was delivered by Mr Joseph Busch, Founder and Principal Consultant at Taxonomy Strategies. He spoke on the company’s project with America’s space agency, NASA, to develop a taxonomy and metadata standard meant to act as a classification scheme encompassing all of NASA Web content, including internal as well as external materials. The taxonomy provided a framework for tagging NASA Web material so that they could be used and reused in different applications such as the NASA portal and its supporting systems, the NASA search engine, and the NASA Web Site Registration System.

Today’s talk was part of KMC’s Knowledge Sharing Series. Both INCEIF and NASA have built and adopted taxonomy to develop a consistent framework for handling their respective electronic content, and to make it easy for various audiences to find all the relevant information quickly. INCEIF Islamic Finance (IF) Taxonomy improves organisation, discovery and accessibility of IF knowledge. It also provides a knowledge sharing platform in promoting and cultivating Knowledge Management awareness to INCEIF’s worldwide community.
