Part Two of Islamic Finance 1 is now available

25 July 2016, Kuala Lumpur – For those who are seeking the basic foundation in Shariah to comprehend the different aspects of Islamic Finance, INCEIF encourages you to sign up for INCEIF’s MOOC, Islamic Finance 1. 

Part Two of the course is now available at https://www.openlearning.com/inceif/courses/Intro-to-islamic-finance1, following the successful release of Part One earlier this year. Those who wishes to start with Part One can still do so by visiting the same link.

Islamic Finance 1 enables students to learn the key terms and aspects in Shariah for easy penetration to other subjects in Islamic financial transactions . Part Two is on Shariah framework and covers primary and secondary sources of Shariah, Maqasid Shariah and legal maxims. Students get to learn the leading legal maxims used in Shariah and how they are applied in issuing resolutions. At the end of the course students will be able to:

  • Determine the sources of Shariah 
  • Distinguish between the primary sources and secondary sources
  • Identify the categories of Maqasid Shariah and its objective
  • Identify the leading legal maxims 

The course instructor is INCEIF Deputy Director, Centre of Research and Publications, Assoc Prof Dr Ahcene Lahsasna who is an expert on the composition of Islamic finance, concept of Shariah, Fiqh and Islamic Law and concept of  Usul Fiqh (Islamic  jurisprudence. He is a registered Shariah Advisor at Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission Malaysia. He also serves as a Shariah Board member of Maybank Islamic, Etiqa Takaful and RGA Re-Takaful.
