Kuala Lumpur, 27 Jan 2016 – INCEIF welcomes a new member on the Governing Council, Dr Muhammad Syafii Antonio, an expert in Islamic economics from Indonesia.

He is currently the Rector of Tazkia University College of Islamic Economics and Chairman of Batasa Tazkia Consulting in Indonesia. He is the Syariah Advisor at Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd, and formerly a member of the Syariah Advisory Board of Bank Negara Malaysia. In Indonesia, he currently sits on the National Syariah Board of the Indonesian Ulema Council and the Syariah Advisory Board of Bank Syariah Mandiri.

Dr Muhammad Syafii is also a member of the Jakarta OIC (Organisation of Islamic Conference) Economic Consultative Council Forum. He has been a regular speaker on Islamic economics, banking and finance in seminars and the media, both print and electronic. He holds a PhD in Micro Finance (2004) from University of Melbourne in Australia. He earned a Master of Economics degree from International Islamic University Malaysia.
