As the demand for qualified and competent Islamic finance professionals grows in tandem with industry growth, INCEIF continues its role to provide human capital for the global industry.
Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (Malaysia) Berhad (BTMUM) is one of the many industry players that has worked closely with INCEIF in beefing up its Islamic finance talent.
BTMUM is a key subsidiary of its parent bank The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), and provides Islamic finance based solutions to customers. This is an important mandate as MUFG is the largest Japanese bank in term of its global overseas network; spanning more than 40 countries and 500 offices worldwide.
To support its budding and accelerating Islamic finance operation, BTMUM continuously looks out to develop its human capital. According to the bank, it has benefited from INCEIF’s articleship programme where the CIFP (Chartered Islamic Finance Professional) final semester students undergo a six-month articleship at various Islamic finance organisations.
For its Islamic banking department, BTMUM has employed both experienced and young talents; in which almost half of the staff are either INCEIF alumni or current students. This competent team has contributed towards BTMUM winning global awards for the last two consecutive years.
For the bank, the positive synergy, between an industry player and academia, is demonstrated through BTMUM’s support for INCEIF; be it through endowment, donations, industry talks or student articleships. In maintaining goodwill between the two organisations, BTMUM will continue to support INCEIF in its future endeavours.
