INCEIF signs MoA with the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector

Kuala Lumpur, 15 November 2011: INCEIF The Global University of Islamic Finance today signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), the private sector arm of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

ICD has spearheaded a capacity building initiative programme, the Islamic Finance Talent Development Program (IFTDP) which aims to address the global shortage of Islamic finance professionals.

Following the MoA , INCEIF will deliver postgraduate Islamic finance programme through its Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) programme to selected participants from ICD’s 50-member countries.  The CIFP, which was developed with inputs from the industry, boasts of a syllabus which caters to professionals wanting to further their studies while pursuing their careers.

ICD will complement the participants learning experience through corporate attachments within ICD and the IDB group as well as ICD’s investee companies globally. The 2-year work-and-study programme is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2012.

INCEIF President & CEO Mr Daud Vicary Abdullah said INCEIF was honoured to add another important partner to its growing network of collaborations.

“The ICD is a perfect fit to INCEIF as we both share a vision to develop talent for the Islamic finance industry. As the only university in the world to focus solely on Islamic finance education and research, INCEIF has become a preferred partner and place of study for many,” he added.

INCEIF is currently working with partners locally and abroad, including from Japan, the GCC countries and Europe, to provide postgraduate programmes and short courses on Islamic finance. Today’s MoA will extend INCEIF’s network to ICD members who come from Central Asia, Sub Saharan Africa, Middle East and North Africa.

INCEIF’s Mr Daud Vicary Abdullah signed on behalf of INCEIF and ICD was represented by its Chief Executive Officer Mr Khaled Al-Aboodi. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz. Tan Sri Dr Zeti is also the Chancellor of INCEIF and Chairman of the INCEIF board.
