A high level conference, themed “Enhancing Financial Linkages towards Economic Prosperity” was jointly organised by Bank Negara Malaysia and its Indonesian counterpart, Bank Indonesia.
Indonesia Vice President H.E. Prof. Dr. Boediono officiated the conference which also saw BNM Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz and BI Governor Dr. Darmin Nasution delivering their opening remarks on the first day of the conference. Over 400 participants, mostly bankers, industry players and regulators based in Jakarta attended the conference.
Visit to Universitas Indonesia in conjunction with the conference : HRH Raja Dr. Raja Nazrin, Prof. Dr. der Soz Gumilar Rosliwa Somantri (Rector, Universitas Indonesia) and Dato’ Agil Natt.
INCEIF was represented by President & CEO Dato’ Agil Natt and Mr. Khairul Faiz Morat, Manager, Marketing & Communications. INCEIF joined other members under the MIFC (Malaysia International Islamic Finance Centre) umbrella to raise awareness on our programmes by participating in an exhibition held on the sideline of the conference at Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta.
On the second day of the visit, INCEIF’s collaborative partner in Jakarta, Universitas Indonesia, played host to a visit to the university by HRH Dr. Raja Nazrin Shah, MIFC Financial Ambassador. He was accompanied by Dato’ Agil, INCEIF Chief Academic Officer Prof. Datuk Dr. Syed Othman Alhabshi, MIFC Director Mr Sharifuddin Khalid and Deputy Chief of Mission at Embassy of Malaysia in Indonesia, Mr Syed Mohd Hasrin Tengku Hussin.
INCEIF officials also held meetings with another partner, Indonesian Banking Development Institute (LPPI) through its International Center for Development in Islamic Finance, with a view to strengthen existing collaborations.
Currently, there are 157 registered students from Indonesia including those at Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Airlangga.
