The Dow Jones Islamic Market (DJIM) Index Group Global Director Mr. A. Rushdi Siddiqui has presented a paper on Islamic capital market at INCEIF’s inaugural Luncheon series held recently.

In his paper entitled, “Islamic Indexes and the Development of Islamic Capital Market”, Siddiqui looked at the development of the global stock market indexes, with some comparative analyses on the bourses of the Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) countries and some other emerging economies like Malaysia and Indonesia. Being the pioneer at the DJIM, shared some analyses done on DJIM. DJIM is part of the New York-based Dow Jones Indexes.

Siddiqui also posed some research questions on the stock selection and the stock cleansing process that were seriously taken up by INCEIF’s professors, namely Professor Dr Saiful Azhar Rosly and Professor Dr Hamzah Ismail, for further research.

Held at INCEIF’s Knowledge Management Center, the luncheon was attended by about 20 people including Dr Nik Ramlah of the Malaysian Securities Commission, Mr Omar Merican of Bursa Malaysia and Syed Moheeb of Takaful Ikhlas.

The luncheon series is organized by INCEIF to provide updates on the Islamic finance related issues and it is by invitation only.
