Malaysia is considered by many to be both centre and engine room for the modern day Islamic finance industry. At the Kuala Lumpur hosted 2010 Global Islamic Finance Forum (GIFF), Prime Minister Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak stressed the country’s commitment to the industry and the important role of Islamic finance within domestic economic development.

As a means of developing the industry the Government has taken a central role by establishing a number of domestic and international administrative bodies. Through Bank Negara Malaysia, the Government has also committed to increasing the quantity and quality of Islamic finance personnel by setting up INCEIF.
