Professor Andrew Griffiths

Executive Dean, Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, University of Queensland

Areas of responsibility

As Executive Dean reporting to the Vice-Chancellor through the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Griffiths oversees academic and administrative matters in the Faculty’s Schools of Business; Economics; Law; and Tourism. He is accountable for academic programs, staff management and resource allocation. He also represents the Faculty and the University to the wider community.

Biography

Professor Andrew Griffiths commenced as the Executive Dean, Faculty of Business, Economics and Law on 1 August 2016, and joins the BEL Faculty from his role as the Academic Dean and Head of UQ Business School. Andrew holds the Chair in Business Sustainability and Strategy with the UQ Business School and is an expert in the fields of business strategy and climate change, corporate sustainability strategy, and risk.

Andrew maintains an active research focus examining the impact of climate change on corporate strategy. He has published over 100 academic articles, books, book chapters and conference papers on topics related to strategic sustainability.

Currently sitting on the boards of the Queensland Futures Institute, CitySmart and The State Library Queensland, Professor Griffiths is also on the Council of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce, and the Churchie School Council and is the current Chair of the Premier’s Sustainability Awards.

Andrew has extensive experience working with private organisations providing sustainability assessments, strategies and workshops. Believing in the importance of connecting academic research with industry Andrew will continue to assist and further develop relationships with key industry partners throughout 2016.
